first time building a machine

this is my first time building a pc and i was wondering if this stuff was any gaad together


asus p4c800 deluxe http://www.epinions.com/pr-Asustek_P4C800-E_Deluxe_Motherboard_1/display_~full_specs

intel P4 processor, 3.0GHZ w/ hyperthreading, socket 478

2 x 512 mb memory, pc3200, DDR (not worried about who makes it)

200 GB WD, SATA, 7200, 8MB cache RPM Hard Drive

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (128 or 256 MB)

evercase E4292 BS

16 x 6 x 16 DVD - RW drive (again not worried about who makes it)


i will probly be palying a fair bit of games on it but also graphic design

Everything looks ok but you probably want to look at a better video card, the 5200 is a budget series card and isn't real good for gaming (slightly better than onboard)

I'll echo cromewell's sentiments as well as note that you might want to drop down to the P4P800 series and save some money. :)

The 5500 is not much more than a overclocked 5200 ... no massive changes or anything.

thanx for that but now i've got another problem
i keep find in all these DVD+-RW drives with an IDE connection, but i can't seem to find where (if at all) it says haw many IDE slots are on the asus P4P800 DELUXE motherboard.

any help would be appreciated
