First time OC ever

So, I was fooling around with a new MoBo (Gigabyte P31 DS3L) and started looking around in BIOS. Never OC'd before and am really not into it, but figured I'd give it a shot. Played with a few settings, upped the Bus speed, and got this:

Stock D 940 is 3.2Gh. I got this up to 4.1Gh and it was stable :) Didn't play with voltage or anything crazy either. Stopped after this because I had over things to do. Really not that into it, but it was kinda of fun :)

Damn, ya know what, I didn't even think to run speedfan :( If matters any, immediately after playing around for a bit, I was in BIOS doing other stuff and noticed a 46*C CPU temp. This was maybe 35-45 seconds after I hit 'Restart'

was using the Cooler Master Elite 330, AS-5, and a Masscool heatsink.

That's about 1GHZ without changing your Voltage. That's... euhm... pretty nice? Try to run 3dmark 06 or Prime95 I doubt it is stable. It is recommended that you boost your Voltage with 0.025V each 5FSB you go up. And try to check your temps with Everest.

Well, unfortunately, It'll be tricky to try it again. The board was nice, but still not exactly what I wanted (I'm *super* picky about some things, MoBo's being one of them I'm finding out - I blame it on the OCD), so I said 'screw it, I already have a decent board that I've learned to somewhat love, I'll just stick with that'. I reinstalled the original and really don't feel like going through all that again. I have 28 days still to return the new board, so maybe in a week or two I'll feel like playing around again.

And when I said stable, I meant I was using it as normal; browsing the web, multiple programs open.

I should have left it for a bit. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20 :P If I do swap out again, I'll make sure to have speedfan running and do the load test.
