First Time Rebuild

I have an older P3 that was given to me awhile back. I started to have OS problems (kept crashing) so I tried removing xp home and installing xp pro.

After removing the os I went to bed and powered everything down. The next day I tried to power up and start the os install but I had noting no power no led's on the mobo no fans nothing.

I figured the psu must have went so I went out and bought another one. connected everything and still nothing. So I thought maybe a short somewhere so I unplugged everything and started with the one fan only, still nothing.

i'm stumped as to what it could be i even got my hands on another mobo that was working and tried that but still the same no power anywhere.

Might someone be able to point out something that I might have missed, Thanks in advance

Nothing is powering on? Maybe the cord? Electrical outlet, room power switch was turned off.. since it doesn't seem like it'll be the pc since there seems to be absolutely no power when you switched the parts out to the new/other one.

The only thing left pretty much is the CPU... But before you consider that an option, try unplugging all the fans, including the CPU fan and see if it starts up.

Yes I tried switching outlets and changed power cords but still the same result. Not an expert on this but if it was the cpu I should still at least get a fan to work if I only had that plugged into the psu?

Make sure you didn't accidently pull out the connection to the power switch on the front of the case. Double check and make sure the connector from the power switch is still connected to the motherboard. It should be labeled PWR or PWR SWTCH or something to that effect.

Thanks for all the advise everyone. When in doubt just unplug everything and start over. Must have been a loose connection somewhere because everything works fine now, Thanks again!!
