OK, i'm upgrading my PC and i'm a bit lost on finding things compatible with my pc... My plan is to upgrade my motherboard and cpu and memory, but i wasnt sure if my current memory was compatible..

i currently have:

Dell Dimension 5150

Motherboard Make Dell Inc.

Motherboard Model 0WG261

Processor Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz

and two 512 MB PC2-3200/4200 DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs

I was looking at this motherboard:

MSI P965Neo-F(full featured PCIe x16 &DDR-2 Motherboard) w/Pentium D 2.8 Ghz / 2MB cache Duel core processor, Generic CPU cooling fan/heatsink included

the motherboard has 4 DDR2 slots and i was wondering if i could just keep my two 512 MB DDR2's and add a 1GB for 2 GB ram? and is there anything else i should look at for compatibility issues before buying the new MB and Processor and memory such as my videocard (ATI Radeon X600(for now))? suggestions? is it a good upgrade?

My PC is used for videogames, movies, music, imaging and 3-d modeling, and i tend to multitask......a lot.

I would reccomend getting a Core 2 Duo. And the ram would work, as long as you get the same speed. I would actually reccomend getting a faster clocked 1gb stick of ram for the time being. And if you game, a graphics card.

Thanks for the help and such... here is my revised list... i've included the sites i plan on buying from too:

http://www.portatech.com/catalog/viewitem.asp?ID=13569&O=4452

Processor (model 920)(i know coreduo 2 would be better, but they're a bit to pricey for me right now)

MSI P965Neo-F Mobo

Generic CPU Cooling Fan/ heatsink (included)

single 80 mm fan, as my pc only has one

ATI Radeon X1300 (512 MB)

Powwork 680 Watt (duel fan) power supply

Assemble & setup & pretest - motherboard combo
For memory i'll get this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227139 (portatech.com didnt have 800 Mhz 1 GB sticks)

Better? suggestions?

Well thats an OK system. You would be limited by the CPU. If its tight on your budget, I would reccomend getting 1 gig of ram instead of 2 and upping the cpu and possibly the mobo. By the way, the site you are using is overpriced. Try just using Newegg.com and Tigerdirect.com

You have a pm.
