First time wireless user

Hey im building my first computer and running a cable to it will be very difficult to im stuck with wireless. but apparently wireless technology has improved alot and its hardly a bad thing anymore (confirm/deny?). anyways i dont have a super fast connetion (350kb/s download) but i will be using this computer all day for gaming and just about everything. i need a connection that will not be shaky at all and will deliver maximum speeds. but of course keepuing the cost as low as possible. NOW, what do you guys suggest i go with? i need a wireless router and a reciever for the remote computer.

what i currently have is a 4port router with a wireless transmitter attatched, both very old linksys products.
 
update: i think i will stick with my current router (Linksys BEFSR41) and just buy a new access point. and also there will be 2 computers using the wireless and 1 wired computer.

what about an access point :X, what the differences beween them, what is good what is bad what should i be looking for etc
