First timer to RAID set up need advice

Ok so i have 2 WD 250gb harddrives 7200 rpm 16 mb cache. I have never set up a raid but have been trying to look into it. I have a gigabyte ud3p mobo. I want applications to open up faster. I read parts of the raid 101 and it said raid 0 would give me better performance. I just picked up the second drive because it was a good deal but will I have to wipe the other drive I have been using to set up the raid properly? Thanks.
 
Yes you will. You will have to do a fresh install of windows after you setup raid in the bios. You will need to install the raid driver at the beginning of the windows installation in order for the install to actually see the drives.
