fixing bent pins?

On a different thread I asked what would be a good replacement for my msi x58m with bent socket pins, but now it came to me that I can actually try to fix them by myself, so... is it possible? or should I just go to a professional computer service and ask them for help?

Most computer places won't want to deal with this...
I don't know of any that would where I am ...

I'd replace the board, your so much more likely to snap pins off than bend them back !

Well, I've got nothing to loose, but I think I'll first take it to some computer service and see if they can help me...if not, oh well...choosing new motherboard is always fun :D

I have done it with 1155 and 478 pins. It is a risk to even try, but better than havingto buy a new board if you do it successfully.

I believe the OP is talking about bent pins on the cpu socket itself, not the processor. If it is the actual socket, replace the board. If its the cpu itself, depending on how many are bent and how far, sometimes you can straighten them without them breaking off.

it is possible to straiten LGA pins. though, try it with a cheap processor before you stick your i7/i5 into it just in case.

Right, the only problem is that this is an lga 1366 motherboard and there are virtually no cheap processors made for it, and I already put my i7 into it because I did not realize that the pins were bent at first...hopefully it still works...:(
Oh, and by the way the pins were damaged when by usps during transport, and they gave me all of my money back for the motherboard, so its not like I'm risking a lot of money...its kinda like a free motherboard...

I went to the closest computer service and they said that they can fix it for me, so it isn't really that hard to find a service that fixes stuff like that...:)
