Fixing incorrectly installed drivers?

I removed my display drivers before installing the latest nvidia drivers as you're supposed to, but something went wrong I guess, because when I try to play a videogame the screen becomes a mess of colors, making it unplayable.

So I uninstalled my display drivers again, restarted, reinstalled the latest drivers, but still my screen becomes a mess of colors when I enter a videogame.

I downloaded the correct drivers.
How can I fix this?
 
simply uninstalling the drivers from windows doesn't actually remove the old drivers from the hard drive

you probably need to get a program to remove those drivers, like drivercleaner
