I have a USB flash drive that is a 2GB. However, i just went to put a movie on it and it said it didnt fit??? THan i went to its properties and it says it only holds 38.3MB. I have no idea why, but its emtpy. I even reformated to make sure and its still only says 38.2MB of free space. I dont know when this started, because lately ive only had a few school papers, that take up very little space. What could have caused this, and is there a solution. Ive put movies on it before, so i know at one point it was normal. Thanks

been a while since i played with flash drives. ive had issues in the past. before you do what im suggesting you may want to goto home site and see what they say. the comment was how did you format. im thinking that most are fat32. i would have to double check.

something else comes to mind. Unplugging the drive. have you been shutting off the usb source before unplugging?

You could simply of bought a dodgy one of the bunch. Best to get it checked or replaced.. you could of corrupted this piece of hardware by unplugging this device before transfer is complete or yanking it out before ejecting it from the " my computer " or right clicking the icon..

Doesnt pulling it out usually just corrupt files? I try to remove it properly, but a couple times i hit the remove safely and a window pops up and I pull it out, then realize it want me to pick which to remove safely. Could that do this?

Fixed. I looked all over google, and found a page where i guy used some HP drive utility to fix his dead USB Flash drive and it worked!
