Flash Player not Working

On certain applications i keep getting a message saying that my Flash Player is out of date and to install the latest version. Installing the latest has no effect, If I check the add remove programs I have the latest vesion. This has only happened today after downloading the latest Microsoft updates. Has anyone any Ideas.

Try uninstalling flash. Then go download and install the newest and see what happens.

Download and run the flash uninstaller and then reinstall the latest version. Reboot the system between the uninstall and the reinstall.

latest version - http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Thanks JohnB35. I did all of that and rebooted both times, but it still does not work
Update
I just found out by playing videos on facebook, that it works on Google Chrome but not on IE 9 I checked Tools/add on, and found that Adobe was disabled
