Today I bought two EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB SSC edition cards (whatever SSC means).

I'm debating... Leave the 8800GTX 768MB card in, or replace it with two of these...

What would be better for me @ 1680x1050, 22" LG and Crysis?

Apparently, it means 'Super Super Clocked', I'm not sure if it's right though.

I think the two GTS' would be better, but there's only one way to find out, right?

True about trying them, but they're sealed.. I bought them for resale, then got myself to thinking "hmmmmm". Benchmarks *appear* to show that the SLI will prove better performance at very high resolutions, which is typical of SLI rigs.. I can sell the GTX for the same price, or drop it in my spare machine which currently has two X1950s in it.

Tough call...

I think I'm going to go the dual GTS.. The reason being that I bought a 37" 1080p TV. I'm going to hook the computer and my home stereo up to it and market high end entertainment/multimedia systems. The dual GTS would probably outperform the single GTX at that resolution.

The dual GTS would probably outperform the single GTX at that resolution.

Some of the time. That's the bane of SLI: inconsistency. I would personally keep the GTX in, as it would be a better guaranteed performance situation; You might hit snags (read: software clusterf*ck) with the SLI setup that would result in performance worse than a single, going up from there.

nah, because SLI WILL be better the majority of the time, but you will be more prone to crashes and shit like that, and you can't really predict that. it might not show up in tests at all.

i would return the 8800gts cards, and keep your GTX, or perhaps sell it buy a 8800gts 512 and turn a profit.

I think SLI and Crossfire is a scam, you pay twice as much and never receive twice the performance, however, Nvidia and ATI get twice the money. :-)

For what i've seen, the SLI support/performance of the drivers is pretty nice now. I think the 2 gts's will outperform the gtx by a fair bit tbh.

ps: its not a scam, they don't say you get twice the performance, they never did ;)

It's not an issue of money really. Either the GTX stays in this computer or goes into my spare one. The spare machine is a crossfire rig, though. No SLI on the P5W DH Deluxe. :(

I put the TV on it today with the GTX and fired up Crysis at 1080P. All I can say is:

Oh..

My...

GOD!!!!!

Insanity.. Sheer insanity. Crank the sound, sit back with the cordless... and it blows my mind.

It's a Sharp Aquos 37" 1080P HDTV. I have it hooked up by HDMI. Crazy. I'm in love.

Wow. If i could strangle you through the monitor and take your place I would. I don't think I would act a convincing sirkenin though.. What with the beating heart and all. (joking, joking :D)

Color me envious green. That's the right thing to say in this situation.

I don't have a heart. Heh. :) You got one up on me there. lol.

No need to be envious. Just work hard and you'll have anything you want in life. I actually hate TV with a passion. I only bought it to start marketting HTPCs. I'm going to be taking it to trade shows.

I have to admit, though, it's fun watching video games, 3dmark 06 and surfing the internet on it. Today I've been using photoshop and working on my website with it. Really cool stuff. The resolution is absolutely insane. 1080P is soooo worth it over the 720P. No comparison.

Here's the other one:

Nice picture. Nice color. HDMI resolution doesn't cut it for me. I want the 1920x whatever, not 1300x whatever.
