For those of you with Halo Trial

I can't get my text messaging to work with online multiplayer. I get a blank blue bar at the very bottom, but no text shows up and I can't see any letters, or see other people's massages. I don't even see the "Elessar killed Sniper" etc.

Have any of you had this problem, and what should I do to fix it? I reinstalled the game, but nothing changed.
 
doesn't matter who I text to, nothing shows up, not even the "you commited suicide" stuff.
 
Did it work in the past? Recently installed new drivers? Halo was really picky about what drivers I used on my graphics card, and something like that has happened before. Cant remember how I fixed my problem (I think I messed around in console...), but perhaps rolling back will help you out.

I know in the source engine, my text screwes up almost all the time, I simply restart the engine, and its all working perfect again.

EDIT: Heh, I just looked at your specs. We have almost the EXACT same machine. Mine was made by emachine though. But all the specs you posted are the same.
 
no, I didn't change anything when it happened. I'm looking into a solution from gamespot about an msi file which might reset it...
 
If you do figure it out, please share with me how you did it. What is this gamespot solution you are speaking of? :D


/me hopes to fix his halo which hasnt worked in 2 years.
 
ok here is what I did, and it is now fixed:

Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Trial\redist

then click on and run the program msxmlenu.msi - uninstall it

reinstall msxmlenu.msi and then startup Halo Trial, the text should be working.
