forcing a higher refresh rate?

im using our 47" LG lcd tv for the next couple weeks as a computer screen. it supports 240 hertz refresh rate, but my computer wont let it go past 60, and the screen flicker when scrolling through webpages is irritating. windows recognizes it as a "lg" screen in some places, and generic pnp monitor in others. nvidia control panel doesnt recognize it

i cant picture myself finding windows drivers for this thing, since its a tv screen. so... any way i can force it to a higher refresh rate?

btw card is a gtx 275, and im using hdmi to connect

hdmi, as previously stated :)

im running out of ideas here. in a few i might see what i can do in the registry

im starting to think the weakness is the hdmi cable. i found out you can get ones rated for 60hz, 120 hz, and so forth. mine was just one that came with my acer pc monitor. that screen is 60hz, so i figure the cable that came with it was rated for it

so, ill try vga when i get around to it, and post results

You tried sticking the resolution right down on the TV to see what refresh rates are avaliable then?

I know on my monitor the refresh rate that can be applied changes when I change resolution
