i have a 5gb 2nd hard drive installed on my computer named HP_RECOVERY (D:). this has the recovery files for the operating system. Due to me having to format my C: at the start of the year i have lost the program needed to install the files. i am able to get into the drive but i cant use it in anyway. can i format it to use it as space without affecting my system in anyway? If so how can i make it my default saving drive. OR Does anyone have a link to the software so i can reinstall it. If i can delete it what program should i use?
i cant load the recovery drive even when i press the key when i start my computer.

So they way I understand it, your mian HDD is just fine. Your second HDD needs to be formatted. Do you have the OS installed on your 5GB? if not, you should be able to format it with no problem at all.

Ive just figured out that i only have one drive with two partitions. but what i dont get is that i reformatted my PC with xp at the start of the year with a friends copy of xp due to me having a virus. my xp is currently running off my C:. But after formatting the C: drive i still had the D: intact Is there any way to remove the partition and gain the extra 5gb into my c: without destroying the hard drive all together?
