i have an acer laptop 5230E with windows home basic and im trying to format and install windows xp pro. now, i have already downloaded the acer sata drivers for the installation. my problem lyes here.......right after the laptop boots from the disk, all files are copied....but exactly when it finishes (that part of the installation where you have to press Enter and then F8.....a blue screen comes up ever time.

if someone has been through this before, and could help....it would be much appriciated.

thanks

You need to slipstream the drivers into a new install cd. Or you could try going into the bios and change the sata controller to IDE mode, if thats an option, then you wouldn't need the drivers.

If you got the BSOD after installing drivers something tells me that the drivers were NOT compatible. Maybe you downloaded the wrong Os bit?
