Format c???

Hello all

I would like to do a mother board bundle upgrade this weekend but i would like to format hard drive.

I tried going to my computer then right click C but it keeps telling me something is using C and wont let me.

Is there something i can type into run like formatc:/q cant remember i am using xp any help would be very grateful

You can't format the C drive when you are in Windows because that is the drive the OS is installed on. Do you have the Windows CD? When you get your new motherboard, you can boot from the CD then format the drive and reinstall Windows.

I think that installing any os gives you the option to format. If you don't have the windows CD, or you can't borrow it from somewhere, then download and make a bootable linux cd. You'll be able to format form it's install.
