Format HD Help

How can I format my HD? The computer has no OS and I can't reach a dos prompt. I don't one any Windows disks. What can I do?

You obviously have a different computer so what you do is google Darik's boot and nuke. follow the instructions to burn the .iso file to cd then use it to boot with .... BE AWARE it will erase all the hard drives that it detects ... so if there is more than the one you want erased plugged in then unplug the power cord to the drive before running DBAN, it will take a while but EVERYTHING will be gone.

Yeah, but if he has no Windows disk, unless he want's it as a backup drive it's gonna be pretty useless. If you need an OS and don't want to pay for Windows might I recommend Ubuntu? You can download it and learn about it here: http://www.ubuntu.com/


btw, doesn't Darik's Boot and Nuke zero fill the drive and not actually format it?
 
Thank you both for the help! Your a lifesaver. I've been pulling my hair out for a few days trying to figure how to format it. :)

I'm planning on intstalling Ubuntu as I played with it without installing it and loved it.
