Format JBOD hardisk

Hi,

How do I format a JBOD hardisk?
I merge two 250GB hardisk to form one 500GB hd. Then partition 100gb to c:drive and the other 400gb to E:drive as personal storage. Now I want to format windows on c:drive. But as I tried to format, I am stuck at the part where it asked you to choose which partition to install. All partition stated was unknown and I cannot be select them. Why is this so? All I want to do is to format windows without touching my E:drive. Is this possible for JBOD hardisk?

The most likely problem there is the partition type you are trying to install Windows onto. If the current C partition is an extended not primary Windows won't go onto it. The problem with "spanning" drives rather then partitioning each on it's own is the type of reverse partitioning seen there. The C would have to be deleted in order to create a new C primary. One article along these lines explains more at http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/perf/raid/levels/jbod.htm
