Im having trouble reformatting my hd. Ive tried 3 different windows cds (2 98's and ME) and it hangs up when it gets to copying system files. Ive typed format c: from dos and it goes thru the whole routine like its formating it even askes for the volume # at the end but then it boots up to the old os. Is there any other way to reformat?
Thanks

I take it that your using Windows 95. This is a diffucult one I haven't used 95 in ages :) I will have to have a look maybe try XP recovery disc if you are using XP then I cant understand why
But hey remember it's Windows your dealing with ;)

Boot with windows 98 cd support to dos. The go to c drive and click format c:\. this will should really format it.

Its 98. The power supply caught fire and fried the motherboard so Im trying to get it running with a different one. p3 500. The reasone I want to reformat is 98 will boot up but runs scandisk everytime. it also wont recognize the cd so I cant get the new drivers installed. The bios sees it but I cant ever get windows to recognize it.
