If I select to format my c drive will this wipe out everything, If so how do I reinstall what it needs to start fresh, what IM trying to accomplish is to get rid of all the unnecessary files and programs that were once installed an now not needed to run the computer , there is a lot of garbage in there that's jamming up and slowing down my lap top, the biggest problem is MY CD ROM don't work because its drivers aren't working and IM not on line because I don't have the adapter cable for the Ethernet to usb. so what I do have to work with is a floppy drive and a Sony flash micro vault and my good PC that's it.

Well you should write down your computer model and go to the web on another pc... Download ALL the drivers for your hardware before you DONT know what it is. You can then get a boot disk ( i prefer the win98se ) from www.bootdisk.com

Fdisk the old partition and the format c:

Pop in the win cd and reload windows.

Wallla!~

I have a facrory 98se boot disk on a floppy ,but I dont know what o do with it the prompts I have no clue to say fix myD Rom drivers with this floppy disk, can you help me with this

yes...pop in the disk.. you get to the a:/ correct?

Type "fdisk"

This will open a little program which will erase your partitions. select #3 or #4 to delete logical partitions...

Once deleted, go to #1 and create a new logical partion using the whole disk space...

Then once that is done restart pc, and let it boot to the a:/ disk again

Then type "format c:/" it will ask you if you want to use ntfs or fat32 type... use NTFS.

understand?
