anyone got any ideas?
i tried reformatting an old 40gb hard drive, western digital. im not sure as to the specs of it but i found a buyer for it and i cant get the thing to reformat!
i used the manage disk drives in windows, but when it gets to 100% it says formatting could not be completed successfully.
i have the hard drive hanging out of my case with the IDE and power cables hooked into it... i dont think it being on its side should be of any trouble... but i need some suggestions.. :(

if you have an xp disk, put it in and go about like you would to install it, before you can install xp, you need to format the drive, so let it format and then don't install xp. If it detects errors or won't work, run chkdsk and make sure it's still alright

its just an extra hard drive im selling, im currently running two SATA drives 120gb and 250gb, but this is an older IDE 40gb...
the hard drive seems functional, i can tell that its on and all... windows detects it and such, just cant format it, it wont let me.
