Hey there,
I've been trying to Format a friends computer, I've done mine a few times so I thought it would be easy... I guess not! :)

Her computer is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro.
I resterted the computer and enterd the BIOS, I set the main BOOT to be from CD and only then go to HD. Up to here I'm fine, then it boots up and goes to the first blue screen where it loads a whole lot of things 'till it asks me what I want to do - 'Enter' to start the process or 'R' to repair. I press Enter' and it tells me it can't find my HD... even though that when I boot up from my HD, everything works just fine... other than the Viruses :)

Does anyone know if there's something that might be disabling my HD while I boot from CD? HELP?

Thanx,
Ally.

welcome to computer forum. first off, i assume youre talking about reinstalling windows XP. in my past experiences, when you put the XP cd in and restart your computer, it will ask you whether or not to boot from cd. i believe it will ask you "press any key to boot from CD", at which point, you press any key to boot from cd ;) anyhow, the point is, i dont think you need to tell it where to boot from BIOS. hope that helps!

format yr HD by using another computer to do so make sure its NTFS also check your jumpers in the correct pins ie master slave

Thanx guys...
But no go... A. why do I need to format the computer using anything else? I can just format it, I'm just scared that I won't be able to boot up fom the CD if it keeps telling me that it can't find my HD...
B. the BIOS is only to tell him where to boot from first...

So no one can think of an option that I might be disabeling my HD somehow by booting from CD?
