Fraps Trolling Me Again

Hello everyone.

Fraps is starting to lag my pc, for unknown reasons. About a month ago I recorded some gameplay of LoL, 5 minutes at 30 fps. No delays, no huge spikes of lag, just a normal footage.

Yesterday I tried to record again, with the same equipment, settings, etc.
I couldn't record appropriately, my fps were at 30, and a second later at 11, never stable.
I'm really lost on this one, I tried also following some tutorials on youtube to reduce the lag but so far it's been a waste of time, since none of them is working.

Here's my specs:
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470S CPU @ 2.90GHz
Ram: 8GB
System Type: 64-bit
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650
Disk: 1TB

You guys are my last hope to get my fraps recording correctly.

Thanks for reading,
DancingJesus

Are you recording to the same HDD/SDD that the game is installed on? Which version of FRAPS are you using?

Im using the same disk, for both.

That's the most awkward of all, because a month ago I recorded in the same way and still not lagged.
And I'm using the latest version, 3.5.9.

Well something must have happened during that month period of time.
What have you installed since and what settings have you changed?
What kind of web sites have you been surfing at and did you have malicious software protection running?
Are some programs/processes running on your PC which may cause lag?
Did you change anything in the BIOS?
Is your CPU or GPU temperature bigger than before?

All that is important because SOMETHING causes your issue if a month ago you did not have it.

By the way you can also try to record games using ZD soft game recorder.Just be sure to properly configure settings.

Cheers!
I am going to the toilet now CYA!!! :D

I've installed some steam games, linked my LoL Client to my steam, and had a few days that my pc would sometimes overheat causing it to shutdown and start right after.

I uninstalled the games already, checked with my ESET NOD to see if there is any viruses, unlinked LoL and Steam, still nothing, settings are the same as in the other month, and I didnt changed anything with the BIOS.

Im gonna try ZD out, I just been using fraps because its been the easiest recorder for me to work with, i just put 29.97 with Full-Size, and get a nice 1080p quality

Time for some tests,
Thanks for replying :)

Btw, if you guys wanna see the both footage i can upload to my youtube. That way you can see the Huge spikes of lag that im talking about XD
(The 1º Gameplay I recorded with fraps it was to the same disk as the game, with skype and my antivirus opened.)

FRAPS is very write intensive on the hard drive. I record at 60FPS @ 2560x1440, and even recording to a SATA 6Gb/s drive that is only used for data, I get stuttering and lag. I have to record directly to my SSD to remove any lag.

I know, fraps is a High-End Recorder. I'm just confused because it used to record fine, and now it won't.

If you can't get Fraps working, I suggest you try Open Broadcaster Software: https://obsproject.com/

You can configure it to record to a file (such as mp4) and it works very well for me, no stuttering and very little lag if any. The only issue with it you have to learn how to configure it right, but it's worth it in the end.

Check your temperatures with the program called Everest right away and let us know!
Also go into BIOS and set all your fan options to spin at their maximum speed (if any).
If Everest shows very big temperatures and ESPECIALLY if you are not doing anything on the computer then I suggest you to change the thermal paste right away to avoid any hardware damage.
Big temperatures ALWAYS cause the computer to work slower and ALWAYS cause lags in things like games.

So if you did not change a thing in the software area on your computer then I see no other reason why would it work slow all of a sudden except because of very high temperatures.
