Free anti spyware

If you are only looking for a Anti-Spyware, I suggest you get:

If you are also looking for a Anti-Virus or a Permanent scanner, there are three main free softwares:

1) Antivir PersonalEdition Classic
2) avast! 4 Home Edition
3)AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition

Of course have all the programs up to date at all time.

I suggest Avira or Free-AV
It has a very good on demand scanner and an excellent Resident protector.
To test an antivirus's quality, all you have to do is :
  • Copy paste the following code into notepad and save in as EICAR.com.

    Code: 
    X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

A good antivirus program shows you a warning immediately after the file has been saved as EICAR.com

Also, I've used Avira, AVG and avast! and I grew attached to Avira. See for yourself after you use this test file.
 
The EICAR test file is known by a few.
I'm proud to be one of them :P
Also, that's a good sign that Nod32 does not allow you to create the file.
Nod32 is proactive. VERY good antivirus.
