Free Avira or Free Symantec endpoint?

Hello all,
My university gives me a free copy of Symantecs latest and greatest with free updates as long as I stay faculty. I currently have Avira on my laptop and nod32 on my desktop at home. My question is should I get rid of the free Avira and put on the Symantec? Or leave it on what I have now? My laptop has a dual core and 2 gigs of ram (if this is important)

Even though the Symantec costs a lot of money?
It also has encryption that is needed for some patient information- Is this any good (endpoint).
