Ok well if it's your own DVD with home videos then it's fine...use DVD Decrypter. It's free and it works very well.
one that rips DVDs... like movies..
but currently i'm wanting to rip a DVD out of a video camera.. the computer has read that there is a dvd there i just need to rip it and then i can edit it for my mum.

If you want to transfer footage off a video camera there should have been software that came with the camera.
When you ask about DVD ripping it implies copying a store bought DVD.

not sure - mum is borrowing it from a friend and it doesn't come with software because the friend said so.....
