Yup CCleaner does a reg clean. It also gets rid of unused apps and unused files, cookies, etc. I use it all the time.

From what i know the registry CCleaner uses it quite basic.

Check out Eusing Free Registry Cleaner 1.8 from what the website says it supports vista, and it's quite thorough.

I use Eusing and i couldn't be happier.
