hello,

Could anyone tell me how to open up some port on my system for the purpose of faster download from limewire and bearshare application and possibly as well from bittorrent.
I have tried site called www.portforwarding but it asks me for static ip address which is off limits to me as the isp provider only provides me with an dynamic ip address.
PLEASE HELP!!!!

This probably goes along with the topic of downloading illegal stuff as that's basically all that's on those P2P programs... Sorry, can't help you...

Actually, alot of sites use BT as their main downloading becaus eit saves money on the cost of servers to host the files and manage the bandwith. Although i agree with you that limewire and bearshare are porportionatly used for illegal downloading.

@nostalgic, do you have any firewalls? Are you using a router?

He hasn't mentioned anything illegal. The P2P network is just the medium. They have no real control over what files are shared (There's plenty of legal files anyways).

I think he means he's connected directly to the internet. You don't need a static IP for something like a P2P program. It recognizes you have a different IP everytime you open the program up. *But* your ISP could be blocking the default listening port. Or it could be your firewall.

We'll need a bit more information ;) .

I've seen a few sites that use BT, but all in all, it's used for illegal reasons. Now you go right ahead and talk about it if you want. I'm not the admin here, but I feel pretty sure they don't want such stuff brought up...
