VLC - well all know what that is
Mplayer OSX
Perian
Flip for Mac wmv capabilities for quicktime
SimplyBurns - nice app for burning cd /dvd
Livequartz
Wimpy FLV player Flv player
Gimp
Cyberduck - Ftp client
Virtual Box - free alternative to VMware or Parallels
Transmission - Free torrent client
The unarchiver
Skim - pdf reader - then of course you can also download Adobe Reader 8, also free
Pacifist - open pkg files and extract contents or force isnatlls of applications
Miro - Internet and Tv
Dvision
Mpeg streamclip - video converter - useful

There's a dozen more but those i just the ones i just installed about an hour ago !!

Then of course i could name you useful software that you can buy such as Roxio Crunch or Roxio popcorn, but you want freeware right !!
