hay, my brother is trying to reformat his computer, but every time he tries it freezes anyone noe why? he has tried XP home and XP pro

At what point is it freezing? On the actual format process? Why are you reformatting, did the drive screw up?

You can always try reformatting with a boot disk.
www.bootdisk.com
i like the win98se disk.

it freeze wen it hits 61% with xp home and it freeze at 31mins on xp pro
ok ill ttry reformatting on boost disk

wah u have to pay to get it T_T

how do i use it? got a guide

You download the file. insert a floppy disk, and make a disk.

Put in the disk (make sure floppy is first in boot order) and boot to the A: disk.

use the fdisk command on the HD.

use the "format c:" command to format it.

DONE!

oh thanks its not need now, my brother found out that the hdd was broken =.= so he got a new one. all good now thnx for the help anyways Trizoy

Before you toss the drive, you may want to look around for a Low Level Format(or Zero-write) utility. At times, this can fix a "broken" hard drive. Not always, but it's worth a shot.

Tried doing a quickformat? Getting the OS up and running is a priority ... once it's up, you can do diagnostics and such to see if there are problems with the drive :)
