Freezing: Ram, or Graphics card/driver

Hello! my computer randomly freezes! sometimes in the bios, sometimes in the os!(Its froze in various linux distros, and windows.)

sometimes it locks after a hour of use, sometimes 5 min!

I think it could be the ram, or the graphics card driver.

(or maybe the video card itself! any ideas:D)

Hi buddy :P

Usually you can start isolating parts with testing tools. A good starting point would be running something like memtest86+ for a couple passes. If you see any errors at all then there's an issue with your RAM.

I don't think it would be video related but if your CPU has integrated graphics you can always try removing your dedicated card and see if anything changes.

Since it happens in both Windows and Linux, it's likely not a driver issue, but a hardware issue. Could be temps, memory, or a wide variety of different things. Since you are an uber computer guru, I think you'll figure it out ;)

Try removing a stick of RAM or your graphics card to start with. Remove one thing at a time until eventually it works.

A graphics card powered by a poor PSU could be the cause of this. What power supply and graphics card do you have?
