Fresh install of WinXP and IE says it cannot find the server of the requested page

I just installed a fresh copy of WinXP on my dell dimension Desktop and IE(or any browser) says it cannot find the server of any page. If I boot from linux the internet works fine. I am connected to a btHomeHub and have tried reseting the NetSP resetlog fix via cmd but no luck.

I did notice that the was a yellow questionmark against the Ethernet stuff in hardware devices, but when I run the diagnosis tool it says the driver was working fine.

You need to install the correct driver. What model of dimension is this?

There is no 4600i. Its either the 4600 or 4600c. The 4600 is a normal size case and the 4600c is a narrow case. However, I believe this is the driver you need.

Ok. I need you to go into device manager and click on the plus sign next to network adapters and give me a screenshot of it. Also, right click on the device and click on properties, click on the details tab and give me the 4 digit vendor and device id numbers. They look like this ven_xxxx and dev_yyyy. Where the x's and y's are a combination of letters/numbers.

I decided to install linux and it works better, thanks! I couldn't see vendor info so no worries
