Fried 6800gt?? Fix??

Hi, i was in the middle of installing Linux on my pc when the screen suddenly went black.

I rebooted my PC, and it wouldnt even show the BIOS information or anything. I bought a new card (7300gt), and my PC worked again.

Ive concluded that my 6800gt was broken, but I want it back T_T. Does anyone know how to 'revive' my card?. Thanks for ur time!
 
First thing you need to do is an inspection of the card. I'd especially pay attention to any capacitors that might be on the card. Look for scorch marks and smell for any burnt electrical smells. Did it smell like anything was burning when the card went out?

Does the fan turn when the card is powered up? If not, try disconnecting the fan and powering up. If the card now works, you may just have a shorted fan motor. I've had several cards die simply because of a cheap fan issue.
