Fried MOBO..Because of RAM?

Hello,
I just recently bought RAM to install into my Computer. The people at the place I bought it said it was capable of going with my PC. So I get them to install it, they say it works for them, I bring it home, Turns my screen green, Never shows a picture again. So I bring it back to them and they take a look and tell me my MOBO is fried...

Now what exactly could have fried my MOBO?...Could it possibly have been the RAM?...

Yes it could have been the RAM, but it isnt definite, its possible that a capacitor or a wire somewhere broke on the mobo during transit......

Well,
The Tech did say that 5 of the blue bulbs on the MOBO popped....But what else could it have been?...The MOBO is 1 year old!

It could have just been coincidence but it could be that the PSU was damaged during installation and so fried the MOBO, it could have been a screw that was left loose and shorted the board out, it could have been anything

They ordered another MOBO from the company...Do you think that they will fix it correctly this time around?...My brother will go crazy if we don't get that PC back as all of his school stuff is on there...

If the capacitors really did pop there's more problems than just RAM, you might want to argue the techs screwed up and try to get a nice discount on labour.

The labour is free....We bought a Warranty...The MOBO is free...Everything is free...They try to charge us...Heh They gonna see us in court!

Hopefully its a real warranty, a lot of them leave loopholes where they can still charge you.

On a side note, I have never heard of adding RAM causing a motherboard to pop caps

Neither have I.....But we read the warranty through before buying it so ya...If it goes in for one more repair we get a BRAND SPANKIN' NEW PC...yeehaw!

Well, at least your covered for it, thats good. I would say that either the mobo shorted out and fried itself to death OR the PSU went crazy and supplied too much voltage to the Main ATX power connector which in turn fried the board.

I just wanna get back to gaming or else I ma going to go crazy...They ordered the part from British Colombia Canada and they said it could take 5-10 days...But they usually overnight it once they get it!

How bout ESD? Electro static discharge, could you have fried your mobo when installing the RAM?

EDIT: Sorry, I though YOU had installed the RAM yourself. Well, they might have screwed up and fried it, but it's a good thing your covered for it. Could you have broken something while bringing it home? It could have moved quite a bit if it was in the car, without something attaching it.
