I have 5056gt gateway pc and just got my new 8600gt and a new case with a 700watt psu going to be building my own pc, So i wanted to make sure the psu was working so i hooked it up to the gateway pc and it worked so i put my old psu back in and installed the 8600gt but cant get a signal at all even tried my old card and no signal. All my fans are moving even both gpu fans and seems like it is booting to xp but no signal. So i think i fed something up ;/ ... Any help would be grand Ty p.s and the lcd does work tried on other pc and are no beeps..

It could be a faulty video card. does the motherboard have onboard video you may need to disable? though i don't think that would cause the problem

Could be the card but doing the same to my old card and i have onboard off and cant get signal tried both cards and onboard even though ob is off.

What power supply is it? It worked before you swaped the psu's? Check all your connectors, it sounds like you could have a loose power connector somewere. Also do you have the power plugged into the video card?

The psu in the gateway is a antec 500 or 520 dont remember the new psu is a ultra 700watt x connect came with a case only reason i hook that psu is to see if it work for no troble down the road.. and there is no 6 or 8 pin plug on my 8600gt

Ya i grounded myself and ram is ok, i think i fried the mobo but both cards fans will spin and the 120mm and 80mm fans work.. i did have to clean alot of dust out before i even installed the 8600gt when i didnt get a signal i put my old one back in and same thing. or i blow 2 video cards and my onboard video but is was turned off .. is there anyway to turn on onboard video with out going to the bios kinda hard not seeing anything on the screen?? and like i said it boots but no signal.
