My friend came to me, asking, whats the best flat screen tv he can purchase.

He would like to buy online, though, he has a bestbuy and a microcenter by him, if needed.

But online is the first choice.

He wants to play his 360 with good graphics.
Flat screen.
20''+
Price...under... $400...Is that good? We didnt know.

And surround speakers, doesnt want to pay alot extra for them, but if its a good deal, then yes.

Thank you.

Don't bump a thread after 20 mins, that's spam.

Does it need an integrated HDTV tuner? If not, that will save a good $100-$200. If it doens't have an HDTV tuner, it can still display HD, it's just it will need something like a cable box to decode the high-definition television signal. Things like video game consoles can still go direct into TV in HD.

20"+ is pretty vague...are you just looking for the biggest screen for $400? A 27" is probably the best you can do at that price...

If he's only got $400, i'd HIGHLY suggest just getting a SD tube tv. I'd take a nice 32" tube tv over a crappy lowend flat screen any day, every day.

He's not going to be happy with a flat panel in that pricerange. He may as well just buy a computer monitor...

You can get a really nice LCD Monitor for under $400. My friends bought a 22" widescreen LCD with a resolution of 1680x1050, and it has s-video and component inputs. I highly recommend it.

i wouldn't

a computer monitor is not made to watch tv on

a 1080P monitor is 1920x1080
a 720P monitor is 1280x720
a 480i/p monitor (SDTV) is 640x480

all are in perfect steps of 640, which is done ON PURPOSE so that each can be scaled to fit any of the other screen resolutions without banding, and artifacts

1680x1050 is a completely foreign resolution for tv, and would introduce terrible scaling artifacts for ANY of the above resolutions.

I would highly recommend NOT using a computer monitor if your intended use is TV. Like i said, i would HANDS DOWN buy a SDTV for that budget.
