Friend's Laptop Stopped Working

MY friend was playing guild wars and then suddenly his Toshiba laptop turned off. He had it plugged in so the battery is not the issue, and he says it was not hot. My guess is the motherboard or power supply stopped working. Do any of you have an idea as to what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: His laptop finally turned back on, but it wouldn't let him turn it on for ten minutes.

Overheating issue most likely. Doesn't have to be the processor though. What is the exact model of laptop so we can get specs on it.
 
For $297 it's only gonna have onboard video and not sure how demanding guild wars is. If its under warranty, get it checked out. But as I said before, if its shutting down and not letting you turn it back on right away then it definately sounds like its overheating.
