Hi

I have just bought a new sata harddrive for a pc that now has an ata disc installed.
I've got some real problems getting the computer to find the new sata disc. It simply can't find it, like it dosen't excist.
I have connected it directly to the motherboard through sata data cable, but when I boot up it says that it hasn't found any harddrive.

What should I do? Do I have to configure it in bios or something?

Please help me, I'm really frustrated.

What OS are you trying to install. Might need to install the SATA drivers at the F6 prompt if its a older copy of XP. Or look in the Bios and see if you can set the SATA port to IDE mode.

You need to do one of three things

1. Slipstream SP3 to your XP cd

2. Load your SATA drivers at the F6 prompt when install XP.

3. Change your SATA ports to IDE mode in the bios.

Just make sure that your SATA ports are even enabled in the bios.
