From Scratch?

OK, so I know very little about computers in general. I am willing to learn in order to hopefully put a computer together from scratch. And when I say from scratch, I'm saying buying the parts separately and just throwing them together. I realize its not actually that simple, but I'm hoping for tips, recommended parts, and anything else you can offer.

It is actually that simple, you can easily build a computer in an hour with a good case and some common sense. The most time consuming part is just installing windows and all your stuff.

What is the budget? What is it for? Do you need a monitor/mouse/keyboard/speakers?

I'm not actual sure of the budget yet. First I wana look at estimated prices and what not. The desktop will just be for personal use and I'm not too worried about the speakers/keyboard set up, its really just the monitor and tower. I want this computer to be useful for gaming. Not exactly casual, but not full-time hardcore gaming. So about a mid to low video card too.

i think you could pull that off for 7-800 (just the tower) and get easily what you want, would do well with gaming.

can you check if you live near a micocenter? just check their site and there's a location option at the top, they have good deals on the cpu and mobo when combo'd
