From Windows 7 to 10 and back

Windows 7: perfect working; Windows 10 about two months and then it crashed, repaired itself but after starting every day I had to re-arrange everything in the desktop; I went back to 7 and the problem started: I cannot connect the (Internet)router anymore saying: "error 651 (the modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error".

Now I figured out that I don't find the "Realtec PCIe Family Controller" in the network adapters. Can that be the reason?

An answer is very much appreciated because I'm really stuck!

By the way, my Internet provider answered me that my LAN-driver is defect (?) but this one has been soldered onto the motherboard. I (almost) cannot believe that that is the problem! The whole lot worked until I changed back to Windows 7 which was working perfect before. I am writing this post now from a (second) older desktop with 7 I luckily have next to the other one which has been (also with a wire) connected to the same router.

You need to download the LAN driver from another computer onto a flashdrive and install it on your Windows 7 computer.

WOW! I'm almost there, but I don't know how to continue. (I'm a big dummy). The screen picture right underneath isn't showing the red cross anymore and the "Realtec PCIe Family Controller" I found now in the network adapters. But I still cannot connect with the Internet. Please can you tell me what I have to do more?

I just noticed that Windows can update (automatically)!

YES! I all of a sudden noticed that somewhere "working offline" was checked! Thanks a lot for your answer!!!!

Did you download and install your Lan driver as asked? Throw a shot up of device manager with the network expanded.
