Frozen on BIOS screen Need Help

my pc is acting up, it has been working fine for over a year now. i have an P5S-MX SE Intel® Core™2 Duo 2 GB RAM and a 320gb sata hard drive. when i went to turn on my computer a couple days ago i turned it on and it is like frozen at the screen "press delete to enter bios".

Need Help Please if any one knows how i can fix the problem please let me know.
 
Depending how old it is. You may need to change the battery on the motherboard.
Likely a 2032 button battery.

Or have you been making changes in the bios? If thats the case you may need to reset the bios.

thanks for the quick replay i have had the computer for 4 years if it is the battery do i have to reinstall windows.

No. Take the side cover off and verify the number on the battery. Should be like mentioned or at least likely or make reference to your documentation for the board.
Any drug store will have it. Hardware store. Pretty much the standard.
 
ok thanks for that what about if it is not battery.if I change motherboard and cpu do i have to reinstall windows then
 
I would change the battery first. If you were in windows and date and time is wrong then its likely the battery. On the other hand if ya changed the motherboard you would have to exchange with exactly the same to keep from loading windows again. 4 yrs your about do. 5yrs tops for battery.

This issue has nothing to do with replacing the battery.

The first thing to do would be to remove everything not required to boot the computer like any usb devices, disconnect the hard drive and cdrom drives, remove any addin pci cards. Sometimes failing hardware will cause the post screen to freeze like that. If you have more than one stick of ram, try only using 1 stick at a time as well.

If doing this still don't work then you may need to reset the cmos by removing the cmos battery. Unplug the power from the power supply, remove the battery, press the power cutton on the case a few times to discharge any remaining power, then wait 5 minutes. Then reinsert battery, reconnect power and try booting up.

Yeah, it seems like it would work for general computing, nothing that is too demanding as far as games go as well.
 
By reading this post and the answers provided I fixed my broken computer. Many thanks to the posters. I had a bad ram 1 of 4. I will ask a question on my own post thanks!
