FSB question

Need HELP please on FSB !

Does the fsb speed of the motherboard affect general system performance, if so by how much? Also will it affect how well it runs games, and wat is the recommended speed. Would 800mhz be ok for latest games, providing your cpu and gpu is good.

Unless you have the money for the 1066mhz intel extremes or are doing some pretty serious overclocking, 800mhz is standard for a pentium 4 and is what you will be getting assuming you go intel. Most intel compatible motherboards in the 900's support 1066mhz front side bus anyways so if you want to upgrade your processor later without upgrading your motherboard, fsb should not be a problem. In that regard, you likely won't be dealing with an intel other than a celeron that is different than 800mhz. That speed of fsb is fine for any game on the market now and should be acceptable for quite a while still I would assume.

Neither 800 nor 1066 is the FSB. The FSBs are in fact, 200MHz and 266MHz respectively. See CPU 101 for an explaination
