I know I have been posting a lot of random threads with computer questions, but you guys are just too good at giving advice. Here is my planned entire large computer upgrade.. anyone have any advice? (especially on the ram and HD)

Old Computer:
-Asus a8n SLI-deluxe mobo
-amd 3500+ 2.2 Ghz (cooled by the blue orb 2)
-x1900xtx (with an arctic cooling attachment)
-2 gigs ram (unknown brand.. came with an alienware 3 years ago)
-80 gig hard drive (" " + I think it is shot because my computer is dead right now)
-SB audigy 2 zs sound card
-antec 900 case
-windows XP

New Computer:
$100 -GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L (http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813128059)

$190ish -e8400 (http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7096.html)

$250 -8800GT (I guess I'll just stick with the stock cooler for now) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130318)

$90 -CORSAIR XMS2 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) (http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820145176)

$70 -Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
(http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16822144701)

-SB audigy 2 zs sound card

-antec 900 case

$95- Microsoft Windows Vista 64-Bit Home Basic (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116200)

Total ESTIMATED upgrade cost= $795.00

What kind of performance increase do you think there will be? I could possibly put in a bit more money if you guys suggest any of these parts be upgraded a bit. And do you guys know if the blue orb 2 is compatible with the new CPU? (the old socket was 939, the new is 775) I'll probably pick up some arctic thermal grease as well. Lastly, I'm concerned because the hard drive is OEM and doesn't come with a chord, so would I be able to use my old one or how do I deal with this?

Thankya kindly.

Like I suggested in a different thread, you might consider getting a x38 chipset motherboard instead of the older p35 chipset.

The x38 is more future proof. It has pci 2.0 and some other upgrades over the P35. Otherwise, some really good choices you made.

Seagate and Western Digitial both make some really good Hard drives now. Either one you pick would be good.
