Future Upgrade.

Within the next week or so, I am going to buy more Ram.
Should I just get 2 x 1gb and remove my current Ram?
Then, probably around or after Christmas, buy a nice Dx10 card, probably a new power supply, and if needed, a quad core cpu, if my mobo can support it.
And will a nice Cpu cooler, and Dx10 card fit in my case?

I can take pictures of the case to get an estimate.

How much longer can I use my gpu? Before I have to upgrade.

How much of a total are we talking?

Thanks.

That depends on where you shop as well as the brand and type when it comes to memory. A good pair of 1gb dimms will see a boost over the current 1gb installed. The prices will depend on what you have in mind for a price range on both memory and looking at a new DX10 compatible card.

Are you still running XP or have Vista installed there? The new hardwares coming out seem to have a lack of good drivers for XP with the focus on Vista it seems. This is alos seen with sound as well as video cards. For ATI models if not going with a large 8600 or 8800 series card note the ati2dvag.dll generates errors and BSODs on XP with the new models.

A quad core model will still see a higher tab then any of the dual core models out. When looking at upgrading a cpu the type of build you are running is the key for choosing the type and model. For a gaming build you would want a performance model even if dual core rather then a quad core if that is geared more towards server/work horse types.
