Futuristic computers?

The world of computers has evolved in quantity and power. So, what will the future hold? Has anyone heard more about mid-air 2-D screen projections (sounds like a sci-fi movie or the Matrix movies)? Instant-On technology? The "cell" processor, in development for the Playstation 3? (upon which the Playstation 2 had an integrated "emotion" system. Whoa! Wait til' companies move this power to the mainstream, 128-bit computing? 256-bit?. I am amazed that SOME of the technology exists now and yet it will take another 20 years or so before it will become affordable (and useful) to common people.

Here's another crazy idea I thought of just now: Link up your brain with a computer (wireless), with wirelss chips (perhaps an ear-phone-like clip-on or head set. Your imagination could allow the computer to build an entire 3-D world or whatever graphics you can imagine in your mind (deciphers brain waves, nervous system). Think it, and the software will re-create the image on screen, atmosphere, light, dark, in real time. What do you all think? Any of you guys have cool ideas to share too? (Hmmm, I like my "telepathy graphics" idea!)

EDIT---That idea could create some insane real-time gaming where one could determine structures etc. and be faster than everyone else.....heh, that's when gamers will have dual dual UBER graphics. :D

the cell isn't being developed just for the PS3 :) but it's neat that sony choose to use it (and sort of co-develop with IBM among others).

I know microsoft has a fingerprint thing, and someone has a retinal scanner that scans retinal patterns

LOL have a look in December issue MaxPC for the 'dog's take on Go-L computers :P
Yeah, I've seen that one, Go-L is probably full of crap, but of course, the future of computing will be interesting
