FX5900 XT noisy

I have installed a XpertVision GeForce FX5900 XT, and the fan is making a noisy rattling sound. I've heard some cards are loud, but is this card meant to sound like that?

Its supposed to be loud but rattling? No. Pull it out, have a look and see if anything loose

Nothing seems to be loose, the fan sounds like its hitting or scrapping on something.

Have a look at this card:

Does you'rs have a plate like that? (i.e., the flat metal around the fan) .... check to see if that metal has any abberations .... mine had some jaggies and when I removed the plate it was quiet again

Hmm. It has kind of metal around the fan with groves in it, I wouldn't know how to remove it though.

It shouldnt be doing that. I would either A) Try loosening the fan or B) take it back and tell them its making noises.

It's probably just hitting a wire inside the computer. Or it's scraping up against the side of something. Make sure the fan is not touching anything, that's the rattling noise you are hearing.

Could also be the PSU fans

Turned out it was just the perspecs vibrating from the fan.
