Hello I just got a ASUS Striker MoBo and I was just wondering if this brand of RAM will be suitable for it.

DDR2-800 MQ Series Features:
- Guaranteed clock speed of 800MHz (PC2-6400)
- Low latency settings of 6 (CL), 6 (TRCD), 6 (TRP), 18 (TRAS)
- Lifetime warranty
- Available in the following packages:
F2-6400CL6S-2GBMQ - Single Module of 2GB
F2-6400CL6D-4GBMQ - Matched Pair of 2 * 2GB modules (4GB kit)

I was going to get 2 Qty of the F2-6400CL6D-4GBMQ sets to make a total of 8GB which is the set maximum the MoBo can take. In the past I used Kingston for my memory im my computers. I was wondering if anybody heard of this brand and if they are any good or should I just stay with Kingston or another brand of memory?

Here's more info about the product.

I'm using G.Skill myself, with no complaints. The question I have to ask is why on earth you need 8GB of RAM? Even 4GB is overkill for 99% of PCs.

I used G.Skill memory in my previous build and it performed very well, they make some nice RAM.

As ceewi said, why on earth do you need 8GB of RAM? You're not going to use that much, and generally 2GB modules arent as high performance as lower end modules are. 2GB total memory right now is a good amount, anything higher then that IMO is pointless.

Well I can tell you right now that that's bullcrap, it will run at 400MHz, just like all the rest of the DDR2-800.

There's nothing wrong with G.Skill. It isn't exactly a brand name, but you shouldn't have any problems. But I also ask the same that the previous posters do. Why 8GB?

I don't want to re-post anything others already said so I'll just say guranteed clock speed of 800MHz is the effective rate and if the RAM is at a price you don't mind paying then go for it.

However, if you want performance, you are better off getting 4x1GB modules with tighter 4-4-4-12 timings instead of 6-6-6-18.
