G11 and Windows 7 Volume Control

Updated bios?

I got a bios update for my asus recently and it said it fixed issues with g11 and g15

Just a thought

Bios affects how the OS accesses/uses drivers and devices. If you have an old/test bios from when the board was first released then, there could and most likely be issues. Bios updates almost always fix problems with usb devices esp when a new OS (win7) comes out. The bios MUST support devices on this OS

Well think I will do that as a last resort. I have no desire to risk bricking my board till I know it will actually fix it.

Will check with Gigabyte next. Thanks.

You wont brick your board

Most mobo manufactures have a bios update utility that can be run inside of windows. It erases your bios/memory and writes the new one to it. If it fails it reverts. There is no risk there

Wow you wont believe this...I found the fix.

Go to Start, and type in “services.msc”.
Scroll down to “Human Interface Device Access”. Right click, go to properties.
Change the Startup Type to Automatic, and click the “Start” button. Press OK and close the services manager.
Try using your volume or media controls. All fixed!

Special thanks to the guy I stole this from biggardr @ MS forums.

Thanks for the help G25r8cer.
