Galaxy gtx 580

So I am about to purchase my video card and bang! I see the galaxy gtx580. A bargain at 440 bucks and it comes with an awesome aftermarket cooler! What could be better? Oh wait, it's a 3 slot card... Now I have a choice to make. The three slot part will limit me in the future but the price and the features are hard to resist. What should I do? Anyone have experience with the card?

it is a beast and will be maxing anything for a good while, so be the time you need to upgrade you will likely want to upgrade to get the newer tech anyways, like dx12 or something like that should be out, i'd go for it.

but make sure your psu is capable of handling this monster

Which PSU do you have? and also what resolution would you be gaming at?

well with this card, he might as well put it to use, and i don't think anything else will even make it break a sweat.

and the watts don't matter if it is a bad brand, so we need to know that too.

It's corsair:). And i know it's overkill but as we all know thing move fast so I will be safe for a long time. Also if I come up with enough money to up thereaolution, what should I move up to and monitor suggestions?

DAMN!.
Corsair is fine :D
And if you don't mind spending the extra money then GTX 580 is the best GPU out there. :D
BTW you don't need to upgrade your monitor just to utilize the GPU completely.
Since monitors with resolutions close to 2560x1600 are really expensive. And also in a year and half to two years there would be games which will utilize GTX 580's entire potential on Full HD

just have to point out you said the 580 is the best out there, what about the 590 and the 6990, isn't the 580 just the best out there worth the price instead of complete waist of money.

No the gtx 580 is the best single gpu card. The 590 is a dual gpu card so it has two processors, it lime putting 2 cards in one slot.

Hey guys I am having some second thoughts about buying from a brand that is not well known. Does anyone have experience with galaxy? Should I save up a little more to go with a higher end brand like evga or msi?

well look up reviews on that model, or just galaxy in general, but do remember that you will always see more negative than positive so don't just base your decision on that.

that means that the average buyer gets a functioning model that does exactly what it is supposed to, so it should be fine, but i would still check other places to get a better view of their company, but it should be fine to get.

yea i sent galaxy support an email and basically said that if they respond to my email within a reasonable amount of time then i will buy their card. They responded in a few hours... so i am pretty sure ill be fine buying their card.
