game.dat?

I installed the battlefor middle earth 2 and it installed fine. When I go to open it, it freezes every time. (not in game there is like a preliminary screen where I can still see my background partially). THen I end program and it says you have chosen to end the nonresponsive program game.dat. What is this and does anyone know if I can fix it?

Well good news is that your not alone and there have been many people with this issue. Try patching the game, updating your video drivers.

Well I tried what you said and it fixed the game.dat problem but it still won't run. Could it be that I have an iMac even though I have windows on it? (bootcamp)
EDIT: scratch that. Just did it again. Oh well, BF2142 it is.
